Why iOS matters for your streaming business
Reaching viewers on smartphones and tablets with platform-certified architecture and zero-maintenance compliance updates.
Mobile Audience & Daily Reach
iOS reaches iPhone and iPad users on the App Store. A service that is only on the web leaves that audience to the platforms that are already in the pocket.
Touch-First Mobile Experience
The iOS app handles sign-up, in-app purchase where Apple's rules require it, and AirPlay to the TV. It is also the app that Apple TV, Apple Watch and Mac users expect to find first, because one Apple account carries purchases across those devices.
Zero-Maintenance Store Updates
Flicknexs keeps the app current with those requirements as part of the plan, so a policy change on the store side does not become your engineering problem. When the App Store changes a submission rule, a player requirement or a billing policy, the change lands in the next Flicknexs build for every customer at once, which is the practical difference between renting an app from a vendor and owning a product line you cannot staff.
Official iOS Documentation
The platform owner publishes verified review requirements and technical policies.

What the App Store requires for store approval
the App Store publishes its own submission and technical requirements, and they change. The list below is what Flicknexs prepares for on your behalf when it builds the iOS app; the current wording of each rule is on the platform owner's page linked above.
An Apple Developer Program membership in your company name
Apple requires the publishing membership to belong to the legal entity that owns the app, and it verifies that entity. Flicknexs is added to your App Store Connect team with the roles needed to upload builds and answer review questions; it never publishes from a Flicknexs membership.
App Store Review Guidelines
Apple reviews every build against its published guidelines, which cover content, privacy, payments and design. Flicknexs builds to those guidelines and answers reviewer questions during submission; the current text is on the linked Apple page.
Privacy manifest and nutrition labels
Apple requires a description of the data the app collects and a privacy manifest for the frameworks it uses. Flicknexs supplies the answers for the platform components; you add anything specific to your own marketing tools.
In-app purchase policy for digital content
Apple's guidelines govern when subscriptions and purchases of digital content inside an app must use Apple's in-app purchase, and what a reader-style app may do instead. Flicknexs configures the app to the rule that applies to your content and business model.
Store listing assets
Icon, screenshots for iPhone and iPad, an app preview if you want one, a description, keywords, a support URL and a privacy policy URL. Flicknexs supplies the sizes and templates; the copy is yours.
FairPlay for protected content
Protected playback on Apple devices uses FairPlay Streaming through the Flicknexs DRM add-on. Catalog that does not require DRM plays without it and without the add-on.
Engineered specifically for touch screens
A phone app is operated one-handed, often on a moving train, with the thumb doing all the work. The Flicknexs iOS app is designed around that hand rather than shrunk down from the web player.
A tab bar the thumb can reach
Home, Search, Live, Library and Account in a standard iOS tab bar. Category rows scroll horizontally with poster sizes chosen so three to four titles are visible per row on an iPhone and more on an iPad.
Portrait browsing, landscape playback
The catalog is browsed in portrait. Playback rotates to landscape and stays there until the viewer rotates back, so an accidental tilt on a train does not interrupt viewing.
AirPlay in the player
The AirPlay control sits in the player. Sending playback to an Apple TV keeps the resume position and turns the phone into the remote, and a viewer who also has the Flicknexs Apple TV app finds the same continue-watching row there.
Universal links from campaigns
Universal Links open a title, series or live event directly inside the app from an email, an ad or a social post. A viewer without the app lands on the App Store listing and then on the title after install.
iPad layout
On iPad the same build shows wider rows, a side-by-side detail view and picture-in-picture playback while browsing, which suits the way iPad viewers use a streaming app on a sofa.

How subscriptions & billing work on iOS
Every store sets its own rules for how a subscription or a rental may be sold inside an app, and the rules differ enough that Flicknexs configures billing per platform instead of one way everywhere. On iOS:
Store In-App Billing Compliance
Where Apple's App Store Review Guidelines require it, subscriptions and purchases of digital content inside the app use Apple's in-app purchase, and Apple's published commission applies to those transactions.
Web Sign-In & Zero-Fee Checkout
Where the guidelines allow a reader-style app to let viewers sign in to an account bought elsewhere, Flicknexs configures the app so that a web subscriber signs in and watches without a second purchase.
AVOD & Dynamic Server-Side Ad Insertion
Ad-supported viewing does not involve Apple billing; ad tags are served through the Flicknexs ad module and revenue is reported in the admin.
Universal Cross-Screen Entitlements
Subscriptions bought through Apple are recognized in the Flicknexs admin through receipt validation, so the same subscriber is one record across screens.
Step-by-step path to store launch
Flicknexs builds the app; you own the developer account it ships from. That keeps the listing, reviews and install base yours if you ever change vendors.
Open your Apple Developer Program membership
According to Apple's Developer Program page, membership is $99 per year. The account is in your company name. Flicknexs is added as a team member with the permissions needed to upload builds.
Supply brand assets
Logo, icon, splash screen, store screenshots and the listing copy. Flicknexs supplies the sizes and templates for the platform.
Build and internal test
Flicknexs builds the app against your live catalog, tests playback, sign-in, purchases and touch navigation, then shares a test build.
Submit to the App Store
The build is submitted from your account. Flicknexs handles review questions and resubmissions until the app is approved.
Release and maintain
The app goes live. Platform updates, new features and store policy changes are handled by Flicknexs as part of the plan.
Real-hardware QA checklist before handoff
Before a iOS build is handed to you for internal testing, Flicknexs runs it against this checklist on real devices. You are welcome to repeat every item yourself; the list is the same one the reviewer will, in effect, be working from.
Install through TestFlight, not from a developer build, so the test matches what the App Store will deliver.
Sign up, choose a plan, complete a sandbox in-app purchase, and confirm the subscription appears in the Flicknexs admin.
Sign in with an account that bought on the web and confirm the plan is honored without a purchase prompt.
Play a title on Wi-Fi, switch to cellular mid-stream, and confirm adaptive bitrate steps down without a stall.
AirPlay to an Apple TV, pause from the phone, resume from the Siri Remote, and confirm the position is shared.
Open a title from a Universal Link in Mail on a phone with the app installed, then on one without it.
Background the app during a live event and return after a minute; the stream should rejoin live.
Turn on captions from an uploaded caption file and confirm they render in both orientations and on iPad.
Run the app on the oldest iOS version you intend to support and on an iPad in landscape with picture-in-picture.
Zero-defect policy: Every build is tested on real consumer hardware, remote controls, and store tracks before customer acceptance.
Transparent plan bundling for iOS
Clear monthly platform packaging, zero surprise engineering fees, and direct developer account ownership.
Included Plans & Packaging
A Worked Monthly Cost
A worked example for a service that already runs the Flicknexs web platform and wants iOS and Android. According to our pricing page, you get both mobile apps starting from the F2 Super plan; see our pricing page for current plan and pricing details.
The outside cost specific to iOS is the Apple Developer Program membership, which, according to Apple's Developer Program page, is $99 per year.
There is no separate build fee for the iOS app on F2 and above, according to our pricing page; the app is part of the plan, and store review, updates and policy changes are handled inside it.
A iOS launch, week by week
What a iOS launch looks like week by week when the account and the assets are ready. Dates for store review are deliberately absent because the platform, not Flicknexs, sets them.
Week zero: accounts and assets
You open the Apple Developer Program membership in your company name and add Flicknexs as a team member. In the same week you hand over the logo, icon, splash screen and store screenshots in the sizes Flicknexs supplies for iOS. Nothing on the engineering side can start before the account exists, so this is the step that most often sets the real launch date.
Build against your live catalog
Flicknexs points the iOS build at your Flicknexs admin, so the app shows your real titles, your real subscription plans and your real ad tags from the first internal build. There is no staging catalog to migrate later. Touch layouts, sign-up, payment and casting are checked on physical phones and tablets, not only in a simulator.
Internal test build
You receive a test build to install on your own phone or tablet. Flicknexs walks through playback, sign-in, purchase, resume and touch navigation with you on a call. Fixes from this round are usually cosmetic: a color, a row order, a wording change in the store listing.
Submission to the App Store
The build is submitted from your account, not from a Flicknexs account. Flicknexs answers reviewer questions and resubmits if the store asks for changes. Review time is set by the platform and varies by store and by season, which is why the pages on this site never promise a fixed approval date.
Release and the first thirty days
The app goes live under your listing. In the first month the Flicknexs admin device report shows plays, watch time and revenue from iOS separately from web and from the other apps, so you can see whether the new screen is bringing new subscribers or moving existing ones. Platform updates and store policy changes after release are handled by Flicknexs as part of the plan.
iOS next to companion platforms
How the iOS app compares with the two Flicknexs apps most services ship next to it. Each row is the same capability; the differences are the store's rules and the input model, not the content or the subscriber base, which are shared.
| Platform Capability | iOSCurrent | Android | Apple TV |

Launch your OTT apps now→What the admin reveals once iOS is live
What the Flicknexs admin tells you about the iOS app once it is live.
Screen Performance & Real-Time Keep
Plays, watch time, completion and revenue for iOS are reported in the Flicknexs admin as their own device line, next to web, mobile and the other TV apps. The point is to answer one question a month: is this screen earning its keep?
Ten-Foot vs Mobile Viewing Behavior
Mobile sessions are shorter and more frequent than television sessions, and sign-ups and payments happen on the phone far more often than on a TV remote. The device report separates those sign-ups from web sign-ups so you can see what the app is actually adding.
Device-Level Transaction Attribution
Subscription, rental and ad revenue is attributed to the device where the transaction happened, after the store's own reporting where the store processed the payment. Where your own gateway is used, the Flicknexs admin is the system of record.
Deduplicated Multi-Screen Audiences
Continue-watching and resume positions are shared across every Flicknexs app, so a viewer who starts on iOS and finishes on the web is counted once as a viewer and twice as a session, which is how the device report avoids inflating your audience.

Choose your pathway below to initiate store submission and mobile deployment.
Upgrade to Mobile App Plans
If your service is already on the web with Flicknexs, adding iOS is a plan change and an account: move to F2 or above, open the Apple Developer Program membership, and the build starts.
Launch Your iOS App Free
If you are choosing a platform now, start for free, load a sample library, and ask on the demo call to see the iOS app running against that library. Bring a phone; the sign-up and purchase flow is easier to judge in your hand than in a slide deck.

"I would like to thank Rajeev for his effort and collaboration from our initial meeting to the platform development stage. We were in search of a white label OTT platform for our brand, and Flicknexs provided us with everything we needed to know right from the beginning of the process. They mentioned that they are open to all kinds of customization and integration when we want to integrate different partners into the OTT Platform. Everything went smoothly for us in all stages. Their collaboration and platform methods are very consistent. What I like best about Flicknexs is that they provide very quick and accurate responses to every question. Their response times for taking action are very fast. They seek solutions to all kinds of real industry problems and provide our company’s needs to the platform in the most accurate way. The software interface is quite easy to use and multifunctional. So far, we haven’t encountered any drawbacks. Our platform was quickly soft-launched, and once we go live with the apps, our process will be complete. We wanted to transfer our bootcamp videos, which currently operate on a pay-per-view model on our existing website, to the OTT platform. This way, we aim to provide our customers with a better experience through multi-functional memberships and purchasing models than other platforms."

"We've been working with FLICKNEXS, and I've got to say, they're really good. Their platform has heaps of features (150 or so, they reckon), and it's awesome for streaming – works a treat on any gadget you've got. Big shoutout to Rajeev from their end. Top bloke. He's given us some solid advice and even sorted us out with a coder to help in the first month. Champion effort. Early days yet, but I reckon we're on to a winner with FLICKNEXS. If you're looking to stream your stuff and want the real deal, give 'em a bell. Top-notch."

"Phase 1 of our release has been seamless. From initial enquiry with Rajeev through to hand-holding all the way from Manoj and his support team. In less than two months we have developed and published on Android , Ios and Amazon Fire , with Android TV publishing imminent. We are now moving onto Phase 2, adding Samsung, Roku and LG into the mix. We already run a successful OTT platform on another service; and FLICKNEXS has so far proved to be a good alternative"
